FOR RELEASE: June 23, 2003
Global People Skills Conference: “Think Tomorrow, Act Now”
An Academic and Business Partnership
Global People Skills Conference 2003, , runs for it’s third year
in Atlanta, on October 28 and 29 at the Georgia Center for Advanced Telecommunications
Technology (GCATT).
“’New and Improved’ is such a cliché that I
hesitate to use it”, says Karla Brandau, the conference’s
creator and producer, “but it is nevertheless true, thanks to our
close association with Atlanta’s academic world, in particular
the J. Mack Robinson College of Business and GCATT.”
The conference is especially designed to deliver practical knowledge
to executives and managers in sales and marketing and in HR and people
development, as well as members of global and virtual teams. The accommodation
of the needs of stakeholders in a corporation, from clients and investors
to employees and teams has become critically important in the global
marketplace, the organizers believe. Communication and cooperation between
international collaborators – or the lack thereof – has been
extensively studied by Susan Davidson, President of Beyond Borders, Inc.,
one of the 18 experts among this year’s conference faculty.
Under the banner of “Think Tomorrow, Act Now”, day one of
the conference kicks off with a keynote on “Real World Challenges” by
Douglas A. Jones – day two starts with a presentation by retiring
Canadian Consul General Astrid Pregel, who will speak of “The Interdependency
of the Global Marketplace”. Dr. Jerome Williams of the University
of Texas at Austin will address the subject of racial profiling when
marketing in the global environment. Other participating speakers include
Dr. Roy Kern of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College
of Business, speaking on “fingertip teams”, Lyn Turknett
of the Turknett Leadership Group, on the unique challenges of leaders
in uncertain times, and Gene Swindell, “The Voice of Change™” on
the importance of exceptional customer service
“We are particularly pleased to have our conference wrapped up
by motivator and “netweaver”, Bob Littell”, says Brandau. “His
incredible rapport with audiences, and powerful positive corporate skills
sharing will send our participants off with a new outlook and attitude
for changing the way they do business.” Additionally, all participants
will receive a complimentary copy of Bob’s book, “The Heart & Art
of NetWeaving” to help them on their way. .. For complete details
