Drought, Water and Thanksgiving

My thankfulness is a little deeper this  year because of the drought conditions of the Southeast. Living in Atlanta, I am part of the 3 million people in North Georgia faced with a severe drought: no watering of lawns or outside flowers and trees. And showers? Navy style. Water on: wet down. Water off:  lather up. Water on: rinse and you are done!  Long hot showers where you think and solve problems are a thing of the past, probably never to return.

Lake Lanier, the "holding tank" for water, used in North Georgia, down the Alabama coast, and into the Florida Panhandle's oyster beds, is fourteen feet below normal with no prospects of serious rain in the near future. A lake this low exposes mile after mile of hot, dry-caked banks -- not a pretty site. Where once there was water, now there are islands poking out of what water remains.

Seeds of Success

Seeds of Success

by Karla Brandau, CSP

A book that constantly inspires me is As a Man Thinketh by James Allen. In this book James Allen writes that the greatest achievement was at first a dream. He comments that the oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and that dreams are the seedlings of realities.

What waits inside of you?

Is there an idea seed laying dormant that needs water and sunshine to grow? Are there several project seeds that need to be weeded? Or has your seed of success grown to the point where with just a little more time, it will be in full bloom?
